This controller is an improved version of Sega's Master System controller. During its creation the makers of this controller knew gamers initially fell in love with Nintendo's CrossShaped arrow button so they incorporated an arrow button very similar to it. Also Sega knew gamers want to be comfortable in game play so this design is more ergonomic than its predecessors.
